5/19 - 5/20 24th Annual Indian Fair: 10am - 430pm. American Indians from the U.S. gather at the Museum of Man in Balboa Park to demonstrate tribal dances and sell arts, crafts and ethnic food. Artists will sell their handmade jewelry, pottery, basketry, beadwork, clothing, textiles, musical instruments, and cultural items. All art sold at the fair is created entirely by the artists showing the work. The FREE fair will spotlight more than 100 performers and artists representing dozens of tribes. As in past years, the fair will feature a juried competition to be held Friday afternoon, May 18. Prizes of $250 will be awarded in categories including weaving, beadwork, pottery, woodcarving, jewelry, sculpture and painting/mixed media, with a Best of Show award of $1000.
