Whale Watching Season:
From December through March, San Diego has the unique opportunity to glimpse one of nature's most extraordinary events - the migration of California gray whales from the chilly Alaskan seas to the warm water lagoons of Baja California where they birth and rear their young. Women's History at the San Diego Indie Music Fest!:
The nation's only exclusively independent music festival of it's kind moves to North Park. Debuting in 2004, SDIMF made history as the only event of its kind in the entire country dedicated to celebrating and advocating independent music, art, business, and thought. Featuring over 70 artists on 7 stages, and with an anticipated attendance of over 6,000, SDIMF III is looking to be the biggest one yet. The San Diego Women's History Museum is proud to partner with the festival on the "Celebrate Women's History Month" stage at Claire de Lune Coffee Shop featuring 12 hours of non-stop, all female art, education and music!

Flower Fields Ranunculus Tours:
Every March and April, the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch blossom into a spectacular sea of brightly colored ranunculus flowers. Visitors can view and tour the fields in Carlsbad. 2 separate college baseball games that will be played at Petco Park downtown. The first game will feature the University of San Diego (USD) vs. Oklahoma and that game will be followed by San Diego State University (SDSU) vs. Michigan. ShamRock St. Patrick's Day Block Party:
The Gaslamp Quarter is fitted with 30,000 sq. ft. of Astroturf in order to bring the rolling hills of Ireland to downtown San Diego. The party includes Irish rock bands and plenty of green beer. Guests must be 21 years or older for this ticketed event. 5pm to midnight.

27th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival:
Join thousands of spectators as this colorful Irish Congress of Southern California St. Patrick's Day Parade winds its way through the streets around Balboa Park. Bands, floats, equestrian units, fire trucks, dancers, clowns, pipers and Irish setters will all be a part of this lively event celebrating Irish heritage. Parade starts at 11am rain or shine. This year's parade theme is "Celebrating the Culinary Arts." There will be two beer gardens and an expanded Celtic village depicting ancient Irish life, complete with sword battling demonstrations.

California Half Ironman Triathlon:
Starts and ends at the Oceanside Pier and expected to draw entrants from all over. Athletes will compete in the race by swimming 1.2 miles in Oceanside Harbor, bike the 56 miles through Camp Pendleton and the half-marathon (13.1 mi) run will be along the coast and finish at the Oceanside Pier.
