1/1 - 1/2 Taming the Pacific Swell: The exhibit traces the history of modern surfing from its humble Hawaiian beginnings to the billion dollar industry it is today using changes in surfboard design to illustrate the evolution of the sport. 1/1 - 1/20 5th Annual LEGO Train Exhibit: This year's display will feature two distinct sections. The first will be the island of Sodor with Thomas the Tank Engine and friends, the second will replicate a miniature city. Both exhibits can be seen in the Pacific Beach room located in the museum. 1/1 - 3/1 Daily Whale Watching: 9:45am to 12:45am OR 1:30pm to 4:30pm. The Birch Aquarium and San Diego Harbor Excursion have teamed up to offer naturalist-guided whale watching EVERY DAY through March 31. Scripps naturalists will lead tours on each cruise to search for gray whales as they migrate past our shores on their way to the lagoons of Baja California, Mexico, to breed and give birth. Naturalists will share gray whale artifacts, specimens, and a take-home information packet on the gray whale. Whale watchers will be able to hear marine mammal sounds recorded by Scripps Oceanographers. Each guest also will receive a "Whale-of-a-Savings" coupon with tempting discounts to harbor attractions and Birch Aquarium. Adults (13 and up): Monday - Friday $27, Saturday - Sunday $30.
